Ethan was glad that today he could finally meet Jack because he had so much to tell her. Yeah, her ! Weird, isn't it ? Her name was always a kinda mistery for me but that was at least uncommon. The Blondie and the Iota were friends for a very long time actually ! It was like... 5 or 6 years ago when they met for the first time and the situation wasn't that good at that time ! She was running away from the paparazzi and Ethan was dealing with his liquor issues. It was certainly one of the hardest time for him, well, after that his parents died so he decided to stop drinking, in order to make them proud as he always wanted to without knowing how to do it. He managed because he always had the help he needed from Matthew his Best friend, a guy he could tell anything, anytime ! He hasn't realised that a friendship could be that strong someday in his life, well there was also Reagan... he could'nt stop thinking about her lately and he didn't even know why ! Was it because of his new relationship with Plum ? Yeah he thought that he hadn't felt this way for anyone before, but the lady made him so happy in the past that he couldn't tell if she was his kinda soulmate or... yeah, of course they were in love, they were friends, lovers but beyond all of that crap, there was something, something undefinable that bound them and the only thing he knew, was that everytime she was near him he felt really good, couldn't keep himself from smiling all the time... he found this so annoying that they even fought because she made him always smile ! Completely out of mind yeah you can tell ! Jack didn't know about all that stuffs, their relationship was certainly the most secret he had. From the very beginning he didn't realise that she was famous, yeah she was on a show he couldn't even know because there was no TV allowed in rehab, only one day outside, in town was the most refreshing moment of the week ! They pretended to be someone else just for fun and they didn't beat about the bush ! In a way they were able to finally be themselves together, no play, no game, just two persons, getting to know each other as simple as it can be ! When he knew she was in Berkeley, he immediately tried to find her, but it was pretty difficult because she was always surrounded by a bunch of people, who wanted her autograph or things like that ! Ethan took some time to understand who she was, and then he saw her on the cover of magazines and he eventually got it ! She was a star, well not that kinda star you see on TV all the time, but the kinda people who is famous for 1 year and become anonymous again in a minute ! Ethan always made fun of that kinda show but with Jack he understood what it was to become a star in spite of a choice... So Here he is, on the green, ready to do some puts. That's the place they chose to meet once a week since they've run into each other at the university. Quite strange ? Yeaaaaah but they weren't like the others, they wanted to be special all their life long and now that they're finally happy, like she's a star and he's in love, they could hang out and chill without even bother ! He wanted to tell her so much how he declared his love for her in a so romantic way. This Carnival was just like the others that he knew during his childhood but there was something more, something that astonished him... Plum Petrov Versier was the woman of his life he knew it but he couldn't accept it yet, he had to clear his mind that's why he invited Jack to know what she could think about a situation like that ! As he was buying the equipment, Jack arrived, as beautiful as usual, the sunlights reflecting through her hair made her look like an angel.
Hey ! You're just in time... he said as he kissed her on the cheeks, yeah that's what french people do. I forgot my wallet, i need you to pay for that !Don't be mad, you're a star, aren't you ? he smiled gently and with irony.
He looked down at her because she was slightly smaller and take her hand to take her to the green where they could talk together, have a little chat in order to catch up because it had been 3 weeks since he saw her as they were so busy ! Today was finally the day when they could tell each other what was new in their life, she was about to be surpriseds ! Be careful, Jack, don't judge a book by its cover...

Gentlemen only, ladies forbidden. You may be wondering what the hell I’m talking about. Ok, let’s make it simpler. Golf. Does that ring a bell ? A golf, San Francisco’s one actually, where I’m actually heading to. I like this place, where I’ve been going ever since I was a kid. That’s what is cool with living in San Francisco and going to Berkeley. Everybody seems to discover each corner of the city and you can tell where is that street, and this shop, and this and that, everybody’s impressed and you made your day. Anyway, that’s not the point. The point is, today, I’m going to the Golf, and meeting up with Ethan. Why this place ? I have no idea actually, but we decided a few months ago that it would be our special place. Nothing romantic, no romance at all, I mean… could you imagine a romance with, like, your brother or something ? Well I don’t. Ethan is not my brother, but we’ve been friends for so long that it could just be the same. I can remember pretty clearly when we met for the first time. He was the kind of lost, alcoholic guy, going to a rehab and only allowed to go out once a week, to wander, to breathe fresh air, to live, basically. And as for me, I was this huge celebrity, who had just won a reality-tv show, where I had spent two months inside a house, with a bunch of people I knew nothing about, trying to live and survive the others. Which I did, obviously. But the consequence of this whole fame thing was that I could not be on my own anymore. And by on my own, I don’t only mean that my mum was putting a lot of pressure to remain famous as long as possible, but also the fact that I was never alone, there was always some guy, ready to take pictures of me, eating, drinking, waiting for any wrong step that could make his buzz. Anyway, if at the beginning, you think this is funny, I mean, come on, who’s never wanted to become famous? , but at some point, it just got annoying. Not being able to walk, to talk to my friends, to live my life the way I did before, it was boring. And one day I met the lost guy who would become a not-so-lost guy named Ethan. I don’t really know why, but I lied. About me, about my life, about everything that I was at that time, just because being somebody normal was something I was aspiring to. Plus he did not really recognize me, so it wasn’t like I could get dismissed. I only lied about who I was, but not about how I was, and he had the great pleasure – come on guys, I’m just kidding – to meet the real Jack. Jacqueline, but let’s say Jack. And he did the same, lying about who he was, what he did, and I only got to really know him when we told each other the truth, at Berkeley. But we didn’t care, not knowing for real each other was nothing of a big deal and certainly did not prevent us from having fun, even once a week. I never thought I could see him again at Berkeley, but I did, and though we had a lot to catch up – it’s incredible how 4 years can fly by – we managed to remain friends and to keep some habits, like seeing each other once a week, always at the same place, and telling each other everything about our lives. Mine was not really complicated. Basically, there were two sides : the ones who knew me, and the other ones who didn’t. Guess which side I preferred. So I was doing normal stuff, hanging out with my friends, dating some random guy met in a bar or a nightclub, getting wasted on Saturday night, but making sure that no one was there to see that and sell pictures to a tabloid. Yes because I didn’t have a normal life, even though I tried to. But never mind, that was part of the deal and I couldn’t expect more from idiots who just wanted to get to know the famous Jack Rosebury-Baxter. Screw them. I finally saw Ethan, trying to buy equipments for our golf tournament – which I was sure to win, obviously. Kissing me on the cheeks, he also told me that he had forgotten his wallet. Pure Ethan, should have guessed. I smiled, making a bit fun of him. “I’m always on time, you should know that by now !” and by on time, I was absolutely meaning always late. “Yeah I can see why you wanted me to come now ! Interested type of guy, aren’t you ?” I stuck out my tongue at him. “You know, being a star doesn’t pay that much, thank God I’ve got a rich family, otherwise… I’d be just like you!” I pulled my wallet ouf of my bag, taking some bills that I handed to the girl at the desk. She gave us our equipments, a bunch of clubs. I wasn’t sure how to differentiate them, golf is not really my thing but that’s not the point. “So, my dear friend, are you ready ? Guess who’s gonna get his ass kicked out !”

Ethan wasn't the kinda guy who let someone in that easy. He had a lot of drama in his life and he wasn't ready to give that shell he built around him. Thanks to Plum, ha opened a little bit his heart but now he was so lost after seeing himself acting like that ! He used to be the guy who hit on chicks just before droping them for another one, but now, he was supposed to take care of one girl, only one girl ! He didn't know if he could do something like that actually... He always thought that he would finish all alone, especially after his parents' car crash... he was devastated, persuaded that nobody could love him anymore, that he hasn't even the right to hope that someone could care about him ! They were on their way to pick him up after training and... it happened... That's the day when Ethan decided to stop drinking permanently. And also the day he left rehab and Jack... he missed her at once and finally forgot about her because she had a life, she was famous, she was glowing under the lights and he had nothing to do with all those stuff, he was more the kind who doesn't want to be noticed, he wasn't shy, though. Ethan was just a kid who lost his parents and who didn't know what to do after that ! Jack was really beautiful and Ethan thought a lot of time he should make a step forward and ask her out, but their relationship wasn't like that, they were like brother and sister, always laughing, teasing and he was pretty sure that she wouldn't wanna have sex with him unless they were drunk...
Here you are ! I almost waited... he told her sticking out his tongue. Let's go I can't wait kicking your ass girl ! And thank you for paying for this, let's say that... it's a payback for this icecream i bought you 4 years ago ? he says with an arched eyebrow.
The two of them started to walk, Ethan was caring the bag with clubs and the young woman was caring... well nothing but her purse ! What a shame to be so lazy ! They arrived at the first hole and he put everything on the floor, taking a club, acting as if he was going to play just to train. He looked at her, she was making fun of him. He put his shades on and put the ball on the green before playing ! He looked away with his hand on his forehead before starting braging.
Well, I think you're going to lose ! What about a kiss if I win ? It will be way better if we spice a little bit that game, what do i do if you win then ?
The guy was happy to be so natural with her, he could say anything to her, she laughed, they laughed, it was kinda perfect, a normal day for two friends catching up. Ethan did'nt know if he should talk about Plum by now or if he should wait till they finished the play, he didn't want to ruin the atmosphere... Anyway, he was a little bit ashamed to tell her how silly he was that night ! Talking to her as if they were in a movie whereas he wasn't a prince charming, far from that ! He wasn't sure she'd want to know the true Ethan, yeah he couldn't be this nice boy forever, at least he'd try to be but, one day, he'd become the jerk he always be, again and he was afraid of that time, He was hoping that it would'nt happen too fast.
So... If I asked you to come it wasn't that innocent actually ! I wanted to tell you what happened to me last week, you're not gonna believe it, I swear ! he started. I met this girl you know... the kinda girl who is perfectly awesome, the girl who your heart is beating for, the only one you wanna be with at every second of every day... well, we're together i think it was clear enough he laughed as he waited for a reaction from her.

Ethan was the kind of guy it was cool to hang out with. He was fun, of a good company, and the hours spent with him were always flying by. He was exactly the kind of person I needed to chill, and forget that my life at Berkeley was not exactly what I thought it would be. Not that it was that terrible, it was pretty cool out there actually, people I was hanging out with were all I could wait for, classes were amazing, there was only one thing that was not exactly great. My past. I am not really ashamed of my past, but let’s say that I wish some details about it would have remained… in my past, and not exposed every day. I could see the look in the eyes of almost every single male while I was walking through the corridors, you know, that kind of look meaning that you’re a pervert? Yep, exactly the same. And being considered a piece of fresh meat was not something I was very fond of. But my point is that Ethan was not this kind of guy, never has, never will. At least I hoped so. Anyway, spending some time alone with him was really enjoyable and made me forget my troubles, which were not that important, but still. He answered me, kinda mocking, but actually I did not really mind. It was hard to see him being serious, even a bit. “You know what they say, you should always know how to play hard to get. Well at least it works with guys so I assume it’s also true with friends.” I smiled as if I was the innocent girl. But I’m serious, make people wait for you, and they’ll desire you, it always works, why do you think I’m never on time? “You’re welcome, you profiteer friend. WHAT? Oh no way, you’ve got to be kidding me, remember who paid back buying you a milkshake? That you spilled, by the way, and which cost a fortune, but never mind. It’s not like I can’t afford to pay for golf to a friend”. As I was speaking, we started to walk off, going to the first hole. I was not really good at golfing. I mean, even though I have always lived in San Francisco, I don’t really often go to the golf. I only go with Ethan, so that is why I will indeed probably get my ass kicked out. Which I did not mention. I can be proud sometimes. And in any case, it’s not like I am going to let him win. Our game was about to begin, with Ethan acting like he was a pro. He was… yeah ridiculous would definitely work. He wanted to spice up the game? I was in. I prefer games with a reward at the end. “Remember this when I will win ! Alright, a kiss if you win. And as for me, since I’m sure that I will win let’s say… you will have to do everything I ask you, even if it includes running naked on the golf course. Get ready to do the craziest thing my friend”. As I was up next, I stood in front of the green, evaluating how far the whole was and how low were my probabilities of winning. I was about to shot in the little ball when he interrupted me. Guess who was not fair ! Putting my hand on my forehead – yeah, I had forgotten my shades in my room, right on my bed – I was listening to him, frowning. When I assumed he was done speaking, I looked at him and burst out laughing. No way could he be serious. We were talking about Ethan Daniels. Ethan, the guy who has sex with a different girl each day. As far back as I could remember, he had always been the kind of guy who didn’t want a serious relationship with a girl. This is exactly what I told him. “OH.MY.GOD. Ethan Daniels, you cannot be serious ! I’ve never seen you so cheesy about a girl. No seriously what’s wrong with you ? Who are you and where is the real Ethan ? Ok no, give me just two minutes so I can stop laughing.” I meant it, it took me at least one minute to stop laughing. “Ok now I’m good. No that’s… cool, I mean, I guess she must be a great girl if you can feel this way about her, I’m happy for you. I assume there won’t be any kiss if you win then, you have to start acting like a guy who is in a relationship. What a shame!” I was just teasing him, and I was sure he did too when he talked about a kiss. Not that I make a big deal of things like that, but this would be weird.

Oh what's going on ? She was litterally laughing about him but for what ? Because he was in love ? He didn't really understant what was the point about all of this. Yeah okay he wasn't the same guy she met a long time ago anymore, but he was still the same person, nothing had changed about him but a little fact that is to say he was totally crazy about a gril and he couldn't help it. He was so ashamed of himself for feeling this way about Plum, yeah he was still thinking about his parents the way they died, the fact he was in part responsible for it well even if he wasn't really because all of this was an accident, he knew it deep down inside, but he didn't want to accept it that was the thing he would have to work on in the future... he thought that the persons who could help him to do that could be Plum and also Jack, yeah she was always there to support him, to find a back up plan everytime he was in trouble, she was a kinda superheroin to him but he would never tyell her that or her head would grow even bigger than it is right now ! And he didn't want to spoil his clothes freshly washed with pieces of her brain everywhere on him ! A little bit creepy huh ? Yeah Ethan could be really weird sometimes in his thoughts, fortunately nobody could hear what he was thinking ! Looking at the girl he was acting as if he were pissed off, yeah she was mean to him and she knew how hard it was for the guy to become a little bit more opened... He was also vexed, yeah it had to be said, Ethan wasn't a big joker when the topic came around himself ! It was a thing to laugh of himself but being made fun of, he didn't like that at all !
Oh you know you can laugh, I don't really know why but keep going ! I thought you'd understand what i was talking about but let's not talk about it, yeah keep playing because I wouldn't want you to struggle while I'm talking to you seriously ! he said a little bit cynical.
When they put on the table the topic of the bet he wanted revenge ! But he didn't know what he could aske her to do if she lost... well he couldn't change his mind now but as she said, the kiss wasn't current anymore now he told her about Plum, so he had the right to find a new dare for her ! He scratched his chin as he was thinking and finally found the perfect thing to do ! He was pretty sure to win so he had no worries, not even a little bit of fear came to make him shake ! He liked challenges and especially when he was sure to win and moreover when he was pretty sure he could give her even worst than she tried to give him !
Oh yeah you know what if you play like this all along I need to reinforce my bet... what about... you kissing the big fat guy who rented us the clubs ? It's worth me naked running around the green, isn't it ? I admit you'd be glad to see me as Adam was but please be a little bit less straight in your words babe ! he said with a touch of selfishness.
Oh yeah Ethan was finally in the game and not only the golf tournament, no no it was way more than that, the two students had decided to play, to become gamblers, betting on the fact that the other had not the guts to do the challenge in case he lost, well... ethan was completely consistent with his body and he had no shame to show himself totally naked, oh no, he had nothing to hide, he wasn't an exhibitionist, though. The girl didn't realize who she was playing with actually, neither of them had thought about the consequences, it was all about the game and the fact that there will be one loser and one winner. As he was playing his ball, he saw he would miss the hole because of the slight breaze that happened to be in the middle of his swing moment. The Iota grits his teeth when he saw the ball almost got in and that there was only 2 or 3 centimeters left before it reached the goal. He turned back to the blondie who was smiling as hell, yeah she saw an occasion tu humiliate Ethan as she wanted to do it before. She was a kinda devil, isn't she ? Ethan liked to play with fire but he wasn't sure he wanted to burn his wings on it. He shrugs his shoulders, didn't know how to react in front of a situation like that but he knew one thing, he didn't wanna lose.
Your turn, don't miss the hole ! That's what you had to say to your last boyfriend when I saw you, isn't it ? Oh yeah I'm a clown I know but i'm not tryng to deconcentrate you, believe me, stay focus on the game and everything's will be okay girl ! Let's give it a chance and see what happens ! he said only to provoke her, once again...

It is not that I was making fun of Ethan. Well, ok, maybe a little bit, but it was not mean. It is just that I’ve known him for like ages, and as far back as I can remember, he was never the kind of guy who could fall in love just like that. He did not really meant that he was in love, but it was like written on his face, he liked the girl a lot and didn’t really need to mention that he had feelings for her. His cheesy face was explicit enough. You could not really think that but I was happy for him. I appreciate Ethan a lot, and as for all my friends, anytime one of them is happy, or thrilled, or in love, or whatever, I just feel exactly the same way. So I was glad he had eventually found someone who could get close enough to him to maybe make him change. It is just that I needed some time to get my mind clear and understand what he was saying. I could see that he didn’t appreciate the fact that I could laugh about that, but seriously, what else could I have done? I was certainly not going to hug him for something like that. I mean, I really like the good old Ethan, womanizer, heart-breaker, because this is kind of the way I do things. He doesn’t take things as serious as he should and neither did I. I have to say that he being in a relationship was a bit scary, and I was just hoping he would remain the same anyway. “Oh come on, I’m kidding. It’s just that… no, really, don’t you think it’s like a BIG BIG news? I can’t get used to this idea right now, I need some time. But I meant it, I’m really happy for you, is it what you want to hear? But I was serious, I would not hesitate to show the pictures to the whole campus so they could admire his body, or not. Ethan missed the hole, only 2 or 3 centimeters away from it. But I know you, you’re going to say that it was an easy point and you’re right, so check this out”. We moved forward to the next hole. I put it down, trying to find the best way to hit it directly into the hole. I raised my club then hit the ball. I couldn’t help myself smiling when I saw it fall in the hole. Yeah, I could get very talented at golfing if I was practicing more. “2-0. Hum, how does it feel to be beaten by a girl like me? You think you’ll survive ?” I stuck out my tongue at him. Now I was making fun of him.

They thought, at the time that they were exactly alike and that's the thing that made Jack laugh because suddenly, they xeren't the same anymore, something was broken within their friendship and it would be impossible to define it but it seemed to be huge part of the fact they got along at first, yeah they were the "one night sex' addicts. They laughed so many times about the guys she ran into in a bar and the girls he slept with until they reach heaven ! It was kinda fun actually to say to each other those things that you wouldn't have said normally. It wasn't appropriate for anyone to told somebody about his sex affairs but between Jack and Ethan there was no such thing as tabou, they were close enough to tell each other when something had turned wrong or was about to ! The young guy was hurt by the words the spillt but he wasn't angry actually, he was just vexed to see that everytime a person was thinking about him in a couple, they automatically laughed. He looked at the girl and smiled a little bit before keeping his way straght to the next hole.
I know this is... big ! I know it's a really great change in my life and I just can't explain it, you know ? We were friends, that close, so close that I forced myself to watch horrible romantic movies I hated before and now i kinda like it because of her, she made a puppet out of me, babe, i can't... i can't breath when she's close, i know it seems completely out of mind and that it's not the me you knew back in Los Angeles, but I have changed and i hope you're okay with that, you're one of my closest friend and i'd really like you to be happy for me and i expect congratulations he said lauging out loud.
The first shot weren't exactly what Ethan wanted, he lost really close from the goal and as he was a bad loser, he started to become angry with himself and this little ball which refused to enter this fuckin' hole. The girl knew exactly what were ethan weaknesses, actually he hadn't that much but he was certainly the kinda person you wanna annoy all the time because you know he'll get angry and that you'll see some fight and abuse bursting outta everywhere ! Ethan wanted to win not because he didn't want to run naked around the golf field, but because his pride prevented him from losing, that's it, plain and simple. He couldn't let her win after everything she tried to deconcentrated him, oh no he wasn't that guy who is so charming that he let girls win ! It was a so unfair behaviour now he wanted to get along again with her !
Don't be so self-confident, we're only at the beginning of the game and fort the record, i let you win since the beginning let's start the real game he says completely straight in order to not make her feel superior and so mean to him. Look a this one ! he tried and scooooored ! 2-1 what do you think now ? You are not that smart, aren't you ? he stuck out his tongue and focused on the hole. He finally put it in and raised his hands in the air showing how good he was and braging as he always do. They were now equal and they had to keep going in order to find the winner, the one who would have to do what the other told him to do. As he thought about the way they had fun, the easy way... ethan remembered a lot of things from their common past, everything they share it was just so particular, really rare to find a person who can understand you when you talk or just listenning in order to let you clear your mind without interrupting you every second, yeah she was a friend of his and he hoped it would last a little more time after today even if they were miles appart, they succed in stay in touch why couldn't they do the same for the next few months at least ? okay your turn babe, i'm sure you are already turned on by the mouth of this guy, aren't you ?

Ethan seemed to make a big deal of his whole relationship thing. As for me, I didn’t. Not that I didn’t care, obviously, I cared a lot, because everything that was happening to him was happening to me. Sort of. Oh well, you know what I mean, I like him, really much, I never really told him, but I’ve always seen him as a best friend, someone you could tell everything to, who would attend your greatest joys and your biggest deceptions, this cheesy conception of friendship and everything. Can you teach me some lessons ?” Sarcasm. As usual. He won another point, which brought us back to equality. I was smiling, seeing him bragging, pure Ethan. And now he was taunting me. Oh don’t be over confident, you know the party is never over until I say it is. Anyway, he reminded me of my bet, kissing the ugliest guy on earth, standing right behind the office. Charming, right. “Oh yeah, you have no idea how I’m excited. But, you should wait the end of the game before making fun of me.” As I was saying that, I hit the ball right into the next hole. I’m pretty sure that it was because of the beginner’s luck, but still, a point is a point. “What a perfect weather to run naked all over the green, don’t you think” ? I’m unbeatable at that little game.

Ethan was so used of her speaking so frankly that it made him laugh when she talked about his relationship with Plum. He was cheesy ? Really ? How could it be possible when you know the young men, he was like funny, nice with a great sense of humor but not that kinda guy who does everything for is girl until he even forgets himself ! No he wouldn't be that guy if he wasn't in love... now he was mad at himself to be such a douche, he couldn't be in love, it wasn't possible, it wasn't... no... his world was collapsing in a minute after she stopped talking. Jack was a great girl, she knew how to take him, she was the one who knew you the best today, if it wasn't for Reagan ! Yeah he had to find a new best friend, a girl who could listen to him without laughing because he was becoming a chatterbox.
